Conservative vs Orthodox

(England)

Hi

I was wondering if it is 'kosher' according to Orthodox Law, Halakha (Jewish Law) to have a male Conservative Rabbi conduct the ceremony, would the wedding be recognized by Orthodox Jewish law?

Thank you

Dear England,

Thank you for your question.

It is actually your two Jewish witnesses who sign your Jewish wedding contract, the Ketubah, that make your marriage valid by way of Jewish law.

For your marriage to be recognized by Orthodox Jewish law, your two witnesses need to be two males, Jewish, and no blood line connection.

All my best,
Rabbi Andrea Frank
